She founded MAKE Design Studio to create spaces that fulfill her passion for design, construction and green building. With experience in net zero energy and green building projects, MAKE seeks projects that step lightly on the land and create a connection to community and place.
Nicole has experience with LEED, LEED for Homes, LivingBuilding Challenge, and NetZero Energy projects. She lectures on green building strategies and architectural design at universitie sand conferences.
Nicole received a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from North Carolina State University. At MAKE Design Studio, our design process is focused on creativity, efficiency and thoughtfulness. You will undoubtedly learn a tremendous amount about design and construction through the process we foster and enjoy. We have an excellent team of consultants and contractors to recommend as needed for your project.
We look forward to learning about our client's interests and experiences and design a project based on their values and the unique qualities of their site. We work on avariety of project types and scales including: small and large remodels, newhomes, multifamily projects, commercial spaces and public projects. Most of all, we enjoy a challenge. Limited budgets, tricky sites and outrageous requests foster our creativity.
We use a variety oftools during design including hand sketches, drawings and computer models. The use of three dimensional computer models has empowered our clients to better understand the design process and reduces surprises during construction.
When MAKE Design Studio was formed, we made a commitment to seek opportunities to volunteer within our local and global communities. From neighborhood tree planting projects, hosting the Seattle Tilth Chicken Coop Tour, volunteering with the non-profit Literacy Bridge to completing structural assessments on homes along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi devastated by Hurricane Katrina, we find volunteering our time immensely rewarding.
MAKE Design Studio is currently a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), NW Ecobuilding Guild, Congress of Residential Architects (CORA), the 1% and Architects Without Borders.
